I'm just a quiet, easy going person. I'm kind of a green girl doing my best to live a healthy, environmentally sound life (which is not always easy when you live in a big city), I hug trees regularly. I currently work as an editorial assistant for a group of community newspapers in Chicago, and freelance in graphic design jobs here and there. I dapple in fine art also, do paintings and drawings, but that is just a hobby of mine. I have lived in Chicago my whole life, and really can't see myself settling anywhere else. I really enjoy reading, where ever I go I usually have a book with me. I've recently decided to expand my love of reading into writing with my chicklit style story Sweetheart Pie (hope you are able to check it out).

No McLaughlin show here - in fact, US tv is pretty rare. Not that it matters since I don't even have a television :)
As for the EU, in some ways it has a strong influence on the world economy. We'll see what happens, since no one in the US seems to be paying much attention to the rest of the world.
Yes, the DC zoo is free. It's part of the Smithsonian Institution, and all of the SI facilities are free to everyone. It's one of the nice things about DC. Museums, zoos, high speed motorcades carrying Dick Cheney...
Thanks Jenn for the heads up. It's been about 4 years since I was in Chicago and looks like it'll be a few more before I get back. I still need to get to the Lincoln museum in Springfield. Ah, so much to do.
